ENG// The video-performance Guggenheim was created for an alternative art festival that took place at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, but unfortunately the scheduled screening on the 12th of May 2011 was canceled. In this video, the performer destroys a wardrobe full of VHS tapes labeled ‘Guggenheim’, first with an axe, then followed by a ritualistic burning of the wardrobe and tapes. This work deals with the idea of the artist’s dissolution of her own narcissism, her contradicting sentiments towards her own practice and its conflicting relation with the ‘art institutions’.

ESP// La vídeoperformance Guggenheim fue creada para una festival alternativo que tuvo lugar en el Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao, pero lamentablemente fue censurada por la dirección del museo un día antes de la fecha programada para su proyección el 12 de mayo de 2011. En este vídeo la performer destruye un armario lleno de cintas de VHS rotuladas con la palabra ‘Guggenheim’, primero con un hacha, seguido de una quema ritual del armario y las cintas. Este trabajo aborda la idea de la disolución del narcisismo de la artista, los sentimientos contradictorios que esta alberga hacia su propia práctica y su conflictiva relación con la institución arte.
